Eligibility
Who can be prescribed weight loss medication?+
Adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 or above alongside a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, raised cholesterol or sleep apnoea. Lower thresholds, 27.5 and 25 respectively, apply if you are of South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean family background, because metabolic risk rises at a lower BMI in these groups.
Who cannot take GLP-1 treatments?+
GLP-1 medicines are not suitable if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive; have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2; have had pancreatitis; have type 1 diabetes; or are currently experiencing an eating disorder. Your prescriber will also want to discuss kidney or liver disease, gallstones and diabetic retinopathy before proceeding.
Can I get treatment if I am under 18?+
We prescribe to adults aged 18 and over only. Wegovy and Saxenda are licensed for adolescents from age 12, but that requires specialist paediatric supervision rather than an online service.
Do I need my GP's permission?+
No. Our prescribers work independently. We do encourage you to tell your GP so your record is complete, and we will write to them with your consent.
Taking treatment
How long before I see results?+
Appetite usually changes within one to two weeks. Visible weight loss typically starts between weeks four and eight, once you have moved past the introductory dose. Trial participants continued losing for 56 to 72 weeks before plateauing.
What are the most common side effects?+
Nausea, constipation, diarrhoea and reflux for GLP-1 treatments, mostly in the first few weeks and after each dose increase. For orlistat and Xenical the side effects are oily stools and urgency, directly proportional to how much fat you eat. Most people find the effects settle as their body adjusts.
How do I reduce nausea?+
Eat smaller portions and stop as soon as you feel full, avoid fatty and fried food, stay upright for an hour after eating, and sip fluids steadily through the day rather than in large amounts. If it remains difficult, your prescriber can hold you at your current dose for longer rather than stepping up on schedule.
Will I lose muscle as well as fat?+
Some lean mass loss is expected with any substantial weight loss. You can limit it considerably by eating enough protein, around 1.6g per kg of body weight, and doing resistance training two or three times a week. This matters more on GLP-1 treatment, where appetite suppression makes it easy to under-eat protein without noticing.
Can I drink alcohol?+
There is no direct interaction with any of our treatments. Alcohol irritates the stomach lining and can worsen nausea on a GLP-1, and it adds calories with no satiety benefit. If you drink, keep it modest and never on an empty stomach.
Cost and ordering
Is there a consultation fee?+
No. The price shown against each treatment covers the prescription, the medicine, dispensing and delivery. There are no separate consultation, prescription or membership fees.
What does a subscription save me?+
Up to 10% per delivery compared with ordering one month at a time, and it removes the risk of running out partway through a titration step. You can pause, change the frequency or cancel at any time from your account.
When am I charged?+
Payment is taken at checkout and held against your order. If a prescriber decides treatment is not suitable for you, you are refunded in full, usually within three to five working days.
How much is delivery?+
Free on orders over £50, tracked. Below that it is £3.95. Anything requiring refrigeration is sent in insulated cold-chain packaging at no extra cost.
Is the packaging discreet?+
Yes. Plain outer packaging with no pharmacy branding or medicine names, and a sender name that does not identify the contents.
Stopping and switching
Will I regain the weight if I stop?+
Most people regain a substantial proportion. The STEP-4 trial found around two-thirds of lost weight returned within a year of stopping semaglutide, and SURMOUNT-4 found similar for tirzepatide. Obesity behaves as a long-term condition rather than something that is cured. Most people either stay on a maintenance dose or step down gradually alongside firmly established habits.
Can I switch between treatments?+
Yes, and it is common. Your prescriber will match you to an equivalent dose rather than restarting from the beginning, unless there has been a long gap. Never overlap two GLP-1 medicines.
What if I stop losing weight?+
Plateaus are normal and usually mean your energy needs have fallen as you have got lighter. Options include stepping up your dose if you are not yet at the maximum, recalculating your calorie target for your new weight, adding resistance training, or reviewing whether the treatment is still the right one. Message your care team rather than simply stopping.
How do I cancel a subscription?+
From your account, in two clicks, at any time before the next renewal. There is no cancellation fee, no phone call and no retention script.
