How weight loss injections work
GLP-1 is a hormone released by your gut after a meal. It tells your pancreas to release insulin, slows the rate your stomach empties, and signals to the appetite centres in your brain that you have eaten. GLP-1 medicines are engineered versions of that hormone that stay active far longer than the natural one.
The practical effect is that meals feel more satisfying, portions naturally shrink, and the constant background "food noise" that makes dieting difficult tends to quieten down.
Weekly or daily?
- Weekly: Mounjaro and Wegovy are injected once a week, on the same day each week.
- Daily: Saxenda and Nevolat are injected once a day, at any time of day that suits you.
Do the injections hurt?
The needles are very short and extremely fine, considerably thinner than those used for blood tests. You inject into the fatty tissue of the stomach, thigh or upper arm, rotating the site each time. Most people find it far more comfortable than they expected.
Storage and delivery
Injection pens need refrigerating between 2°C and 8°C before first use. We ship in insulated packaging with cold-chain protection, and all orders are sent tracked with a delivery window you can adjust.
